Ms. Blasco has been with the ECVTS system for eight years. Her most memorable event at Newark Tech was the annual fall pep rally. Ms. Blasco loves the Newark Tech environment. As the administrative assistant to the guidance department "I am beginning to notice how the guidance office is the heart of the school”. Ms. Blasco enjoys seeing the students everyday.

1. How long have you been working an administrator?
I began my career in the Essex County Vocational Technical School District in 2005. I taught English at N. 13th Street Tech for nine years before transitioning into my role as Social Studies Department Chairperson in 2014. This is my first year as the full time Supervisor of Social Studies.
2. What is your most memorable event at Newark Tech?
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working at Newark Tech as an ESL and GED instructor for our night school program, as well as an English instructor in our Summer School Academy. I have always enjoyed the energy and camaraderie at NT. My most memorable event at Newark Tech so far was teaching ESL to our adult school population. I truly admired my students' persistence with learning English in order to create a better future for themselves and their families.
3. How do you feel about the Newark Tech environment so far?
I am really enjoying the environment at Newark Tech. The teachers, staff and students have been very welcoming and I look forward to collaborating with the Terriers in their pursuit for excellence.
4. How do you view your role as a a member of the Newark Tech family?
As a new member of the Newark Tech family, I am excited to help our district grow as a national model of educational excellence. I am deeply committed to educating our students for the demands of an ever-changing society. In my role as a supervisor, it is my goal to provide our teachers with the support they need to thrive. I am fortunate enough to work with very creative and dedicated teachers who work diligently to ensure that our students become the contributing members of society they are capable of becoming. It is my ultimate hope that our students take the lessons they learn from history to help create a better tomorrow for our future generations. I am confident that the students at Newark Tech will impact their community in many positive ways.
Meet our New Family Members
Mr. Salvatore Lima worked as a teacher in the ECVTS system for six years. Mr. Lima is now in his third year as the supervisor of science and located on the Newark Tech campus full time. Mr. Lima’s most recent memorable moment occurred at Newark Tech when he attended the ESL graduation. Mr. Lima said “One thing that comes to mind so far though is when I attended the ESL graduation last year. It was truly something to see how proud and accomplished the students were and the support they demonstrated for one another.” Mr. Lima said the “Newark Tech is a truly unique school. The students are friendly and the staff is supportive. I feel welcomed all the time.” Mr. Lima was asked about his role as a supervisor.
”As a supervisor, I view my role as being supportive in nature. I am here to help the teachers in any way that I can, which in turn allows me to play a small part in every students' success here at Newark Tech and throughout the district. I love the opportunity I have been awarded. On a more personal note Mr. Lima said “I love the fact that Newark Tech is not afraid to take risks and is constantly striving to better their school name, and in turn our district's status. Newark Tech has a lot of administrators located in it, great teachers, and the best students.”
Ms. Chapman has been working as a teacher for 10 years. Ms. Chapman said that her most memorable events so far at Newark Tech “would have to be the annual fashion show and the Performing Art's performance of Hair Spray.”
Ms Chapman also said she “ appreciates the fast pace “hussle and bussle”, the multicultural makeup of the school community, and the tremendous sense of school pride… GOOOO TERRIERS!! I believe my role as a teacher is to create a classroom environment that mirrors professionalism and develops the work ethic required in the workplace; to bring students to the realization of what they want from life and what it will take to get there. I’d have to say the students are the best part about working at Newark Tech. Their creativity and uniqueness, as well as their goals for the future inspire and challenge me to be a better teacher; and ultimately a better me

1. How long have you been working as a teacher?
This is my second year of teaching. I was student teacher here at Newark Tech, I was a chemistry teacher prior to coming to Newark Tech.
2. What is your most memorable event at Newark Tech?
My most memorable event at Newark Tech is when students take time to use the reading center in my science classroom.
3. How do you feel about the Newark Tech environment so far?
It’s been interesting, challenging, everyday is something new and exciting.
4. How do you view your role as a member of the Newark Tech family?
My role is to constantly keep students interested in the world of science.

1. How long have you been working with TNT?
I have been working as a Mental Health Clinician for three years. This is my first year in Newark Tech.
2. What is your most memorable event at Newark Tech?
I enjoyed the first day of school activities. The Camp Bernie trip was a great opportunity for the students to network. The trip was a memorable event for me because I was able to integrate ESL population with their new peers. Some students were very nervous but the experience allowed the students to communicate. The Zipline here is not as controlled as the one in the Dominican Republic which made the experience exciting and rewarding as the students got to know each other during this activity.
3. How do you feel about the Newark Tech environment so far?
I enjoy the friendly, helpful environment that always makes me feel welcome.
4. How do you view your role as a member of the Newark Tech family?
I believe my role is vital to the social and emotional well being of the students . I believe that TNT helps the students create a balance.

In her brief time here at Newark Tech Ms. Gonzalez has found the environment to be fun and challenging. She has received help from my employees to learn her way around Newark Tech. Mr. Malcom Ford has worked as a security officer for three months. His most memorable event at Newark Tech was the special funeral event hosted in the Terrier Dome because it made him grateful for his current life and reminded him that nothing is promised. I feel the Newark Tech environment is a well-organized place. I enjoy working with the well behaved students who show adults respect. I also love the staff because everybody gets treated like family which makes you feel wanted at Newark Tech.
Ms. Simmons has spent 13 of her 19 years as a county security officer at Newark Tech. Her most memorable times are being grateful to work with a variety of people and in the district schools throughout the county. Newark Tech is like a home away from home. I spend many hours working and helping students advance to their next level. My role at Newark Tech is to protect everyone to the best of my ability in order to create a happy and safe environment. As a native of Newark,NJ I enjoy the students and people I work with throughout the county. I enjoy seeing the positive changes in our community among our youth and the people promoting positive changes.
