Dear Readers.

There is a tasty way to reminisce about the fall while savoring the winter. And it’s called iced apple pie bars! It’s totally understandable if pie baking isn’t your thing because you can encapsulate the taste of the pie without having to actually make one! These apple pie bars are so simple to make and it doesn’t even take much to make it look nice, too.

 

First, gather your tools:

9 x 13 in. baking pan

Food processor

Large bowl (for mixing)

 

Now, gather your ingredients:

For the apple pie bars

 

2 2/3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
1/2 cup very cold water
6medium sized Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into 1/2 inch pieces
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2
cupall purpose flour
1 teaspoon McCormick Apple Pie Spice
Optional: egg wash (beaten egg, plus 1 tablespoon milk)
Sanding sugar

 

For the icing

 

2 tablespoons melted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract
2 tablespoons milk

 

  1. Preheat your oven on 350 degrees

  2. Gather the flour, salt and sugar. Pour into the food processor and then blend. Stop the blender to add cubed butter and then blend again until the mixture forms coarse crumbs. Next, slowly add cold water until dough forms. Remove it from the food processor and knead it on a flour surface to

  3. Get the large bowl, and mix apples, granulated and brown sugar, flour, and apple pie spice together until well blended.

  4. Roll out one piece of dough into a rectangle shape on a well floured surface
